The only and the best! Moves and Tips for Freestyle Swinging

Freestyle swinging first in started in 93 or 94 when some of my friends, mybrother, and I we messing around on are swings. And my friend Tony dared me(Andy Uppole) to try a back flip. So I did it and landed it. HE was like wow!! thatwas sick man. And then we made these compotitons and then like two weeks agowe made the DX-games. So that is how it began. Disclaimer: All of the following directions for tricks could cause an injury and it's not my fault ifyou get hurt or... killed. Basic Moves Jump Basically... A jump out of the swing 90, 180, 360 A spin of the body - 90 degrees, 180 degrees, and 360 degrees. Can be done to your left or right. Cartwheel A basic back flip but do it side ways . Somersault Do a back flip then get in a ball and roll backward. Not advised of if your new to the sport (spine injury could occur), try it on the grass, or in mulch Not So Basic Moves Stall With feet: jump out of the swing and land on your right or left foot or both 50-50: both feet 5-0: right foot only 0-5: left foot only With feet: jump towards an object's edge land with you feet to stall. 50-50: both feet 5-0: right foot only 0-5: left foot only Stall variations Reverse: Stall with back to object's edge jumping out of the swing backwards or doing a 180 when jumping on to object. Overlap: Cross hands when landing 50-50 stalls (reverse or normal) Turn body back to normal position (so legs or hands aren't crossed) to pull off a 180. You can land back in the stall form Slide Butt Slide: Jump out of the swing towards an object that will be somewhat slick to pant fabric (hand rail, metal box, slick cement) and jump on to edge, landing with butt. You will slide 4-6 feet or more depending on speed of the jump. Caution: butt damage is very possible if directions not followed (even if directions are followed too).(Anal injury may occur. 5-0 Dry foot slide: jump at medium to slow pace towards a hand rail or metal box (or anything else slick to shoe canvas) and jump onto the object with one foot landing on the object's edge (or just on the hand rail). Your foot should slide forward. Don't let your body lag behind and slow down the slide, make sure you body's in the air. For better balance you can set one hand on the object as you slide. You can also use both feet for a 50-50 foot slide. Much harder, though, since both your shoe's are tilted on their canvas side. You can also use both feet for a 50-50 wet foot slide. Easier than 50-50 dry foot slide. Wall Jump Use a wall or something high enough to be a wall (trees and poles would work) and make sure it has enough grip for your shoe soles (like brick, not smooth wood). Jump towards it and then spring off of it when your legs hit it. You can land it with these variations: 90,180, 360 Stalls Slides Leg grab Straight back in opposite direction of jumping. Variations Use one leg or the other, but only one (5-0, 0-5) Use legs(any combination of 50-50,5-0, and 0-5 leg) jump on the wall from the wall and then jumping off. See how far you can get up the wall. Try it between 90 degree wall angles like Jackie Chan :) Jump with your feet landing 90 against the wall (or tree, but not pole) and try stalling for at least 1-2 seconds. Leg Grab and Touch 50-50 Leg grab: As you jump into the air bend your knees backwards and grab both legs with one arm. Make sure to release the grab and put your feet back out to land or you'll break your knee caps. Leg touch: Bend legs and touch feet with hand as you jump. Easier than grab. 5-0, 0-5 Leg grab: Grab one leg with arm. Leg touch: Touch one foot with hand. Variations 50-50 grab and touch with both arms. 5-0 and 0-5 using both arms. Kick legs forward when grabbing (grab ankles or under thighs). Much harder, try with touching instead when you first try it. Jumping Try this over trash cans, fronts of cars (not the middle), backs of cars, tables, chairs (this could hurt if you screw up), bushes, etc. Try throwing in leg grabs/touches or 180/360's when you jump over the things Sure-Fire Injury Tricks Flips Front flips Back flips flare flips Best if done when your an expert Advanced Jumping Jumping off of 8+ foot drops Jumping over car middles, people, buses Adding legs grabs. Tips Practice jumping tricks off of high things into water if you're not that good. Wear shoes that are light and have good grip (skate shoes for example). Avoid Contact with mud. Don't try a wet foot slide at full speed for the first time!! Show off your freestyle tricks when girls are around :) Tell everyone about it so we can make it a known and practiced sport. The best place to freestyle walk is in your yard,at a school, or park You don't need to wear a helmet or pads. Make sure you let go of your legs before you hit the ground or there will be knee cap injury. Best wall materials: Brick Marble (if you have gum soles like in skate shoes) Bark, or trees Any rough textured wall with grip (like adobe) Rocks Smooth walls that cause much friction when rubber soles are brought together with it Bad wall materials: Wood (flat or smooth, dusty (rigid wood like trees is good sometimes)) Wet metal (unless you're trying some kind of vertical wall slide...) Wet marble (marbles good unless it's wet) Do not freestyle swing with an injured ankle. It makes it a lot worse. Take the impact of landing with bent knees (your legs are shock absorbers) and if you have to, put your hands on the ground to keep yourself from falling down!!
